How to turn one good order into a standing relationship

Suppliers give their best pricing to buyers who make their life easy. Here is what that looks like in practice.

Unlocking a supplier's contact details is the beginning, not the end. The buyers who get better pricing are not the ones who negotiate hardest — they are the ones who are easiest to work with.

Order in a predictable rhythm. A supplier who can forecast your demand will hold stock for you.

Send one clear message per order, with quantities, item names and your shipping address in the same place. Scattered messages across three days cost the supplier time, and time is what your pricing is really made of.

Pay on the terms you agreed, on the day you agreed. This single habit outranks every negotiating tactic.

When something goes wrong, lead with the facts and a photo, not with blame. Most suppliers will make it right the first time and remember that you were straightforward about it.

After three clean orders, ask about volume pricing. By then you are not a stranger asking for a discount, you are a customer worth keeping.
